President's Greeting

Dear colleagues

It is a great honor for me and the organizing committee to host the 27th Panhellenic Nephrology Congress in Alexandroupolis. The congress will be held from May 20 to 23 at the EGNATIA – ASTIR PALACE Hotel. I would like to thank the Hellenic Society of Nephrology for once again placing its trust in the city of Alexandroupolis, following the successful conferences held there in 1992 and 2014.

The scientific committee of the conference is striving to renew its agenda as much as possible with presentations on contemporary issues that concern the nephrology community. A number of lectures, round tables, satellite symposia, and debates have been planned with the aim of seeking the latest knowledge on the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease. This is a disease for which the World Health Organization sounded the alarm in May 2025 and declared it a global health problem.

The presence of renowned speakers from Greece and abroad, as well as the scientific committee’s effort to give a platform to many young colleagues, guarantee the success of the Greek Nephrology Society’s leading scientific event.

The 27th Panhellenic Nephrology Conference is dedicated to the memory of Vasilis Vargemezis, founder of the University Nephrology Clinic of Democritus University of Thrace, which over the years has become a breeding ground for young nephrologists who have staffed nephrology departments throughout Greece.

Dear colleagues, we look forward to welcoming you to Alexandroupolis in the spring to discuss, agree, disagree, and ultimately learn, as is the case at all our successful scientific events.

With respect

Stelios Panagoutsos

President of the Conference
